Supervising Installer Status Listing Requirements

Supervising Installer Status

Requirements include:

• Staff with numbered Certificate of Competency (2 people)
• Draughts persons (2) capable of designing to approved standards
• Own erection workforce with minimum 2 competent sprinkler fitters
• Suitable workshop with 24-hour emergency service
• Financial requirements: auditor's certificate, banker's C rating of R500,000, performance bonds of R1,000,000, R5,000,000 contractual liability insurance
• Must complete specific types of installations within 5 years

Installer Status

Similar to Supervising Installer but with reduced requirements:

• 1 person with Certificate of Competency
• 1 draughts person
• Lower performance bond requirement (R500,000)
• Fewer required installations (3 instead of 5 for most types)

Conditional Installer Status

For companies with limited capabilities:

• 1 person with Certificate of Competency (or attending ASIB courses)
• 1 sprinkler fitter (minimum)
• Lower financial requirements: R250,000 banker's rating, R250,000 performance bonds
• Must submit all drawings/calculations to ASIB for approval

Provisional Installer

For newly listed or underperforming companies:

• Under review by ASIB
• Maximum 3-year listing period
• Must have access to competent draughtsman/designer
• Annual review with requirement to progress or be removed

Approved Suppliers

Approved Fabrication Workshop

• Manager with 5+ years industry experience
• Use ASIB-approved materials (FM or LPC)
• Premises inspected by ASIB
• Minimum R1,000,000 contractual liability insurance

Approved Consultant

• 5+ years fire protection consulting experience
• Only use proven recognised standards
• Classed as Competent Person or attending ASIB courses
• Only use ASIB approved installers
• Minimum R3,000,000 professional liability insurance
